Q: What’s the deal?

A: With the recent passage of Charlottesville’s new zoning ordinance, homeowners will now be able to build additional units on their properties. This could be something as simple as an accessory unit in your backyard.

The Housing Collective can build this for you! Our system is a streamlined installation of a pre-built unit that takes just a few weeks, barely disturbing your daily life. THC incurs all of the costs in building and managing the unit. You will have no out-of-pocket expenses.

Q: What does the unit look like?

A: The unit would be:

• 2 stories with 2 bedrooms;

• Approximately 14 feet wide by 40 feet long;

• Located toward the rear of the property;

• Where possible, accessed via the alley;

• Tied into your water and sewer (THC pays for all costs including the repair of the landscape to its original condition).
